Conservation

Conservation lies at the heart of EcoLife Trust’s mission. The purpose of our Conservation Programme is to safeguard ecosystems, protect wildlife, and ensure the sustainable use of natural resources in Botswana and beyond. The country is home to globally significant wildlife populations, including African elephants, lions, leopards, African wild dogs, and numerous bird species, while also hosting the world-renowned Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These environments are not only vital to biodiversity but also support livelihoods through tourism, employment, and sustainable development. However, despite Botswana’s international conservation reputation, ecosystems and wildlife face mounting threats.
